RATIONALE

Omics research is one of our innovative offerings at RIC and is aimed at the targeted or untargeted measurement of biological molecules present in cells, vesicles, tissues, or biological fluids. The ultimate goal is to unravel molecular responses to various stimuli, such as genetic modifications, diseases, and therapies.

Our state-of-the-art gas chromatography (GC), liquid chromatography (LC), and capillary electrophoresis (CE) technologies coupled to mass spectrometry (MS) and software processing tools allow us to monitor compounds in a qualitative and quantitative manner.

Combined with the right statistical tools, this huge amount of data that is generated allows us to find trends and differences between conditions, allowing to generate or verify a hypothesis. The information retrieved from an omics experiment can be used for understanding biology, manufacturing processes, biomarker discovery and drug development.

GAME PLAN

For each of our services we support you with a complete study setup, help define the right questions and determine which data will provide answers.

  • Experimental design covering sample selection, sample preparation, data acquisition and analysis, and finding the link with your biology.
  • Compound extraction based on standardized sample preparation protocols for various biological matrices
  • Top-end mass spectrometry analysis of biological extracts via (a) comprehensive (untargeted) profiling or (b) specific (targeted) analysis
  • Data processing including feature extraction, alignment, normalization and filtering

  • Compound identification by proprietary database and library matching and comparison to reference standards next to de novo interpretation
  • Data analysis using a range of univariate and multivariate techniques
  • Data integration and assistance in biological interpretation

Our omics platform is able to measure hundreds of species simultaneously but can also zoom in on specific players. As such it provides a holistic discovery or more biased verification approach for various markets, like medical research as well as the diagnostics, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical industry.
